
Egypt's Prime Minister visits EVA Pharma's state-of-the-art manufacturing complex, which is set to provide locally manufactured insulin to more than 60 countries.
Cairo, Egypt – September 21, 2024 – Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by a delegation of key ministers and officials, conducted an official visit today to the EVA Pharma Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Complex in 6th of October City. The visit comes as part of the Egyptian government’s continued support for Egypt’s growing pharmaceutical sector, a critical industry in meeting both local needs and promoting medicines exportation.
During the visit, Dr. Madbouly and the esteemed delegation toured EVA Pharma’s state-of-the-art production facilities, certified by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and featuring cutting-edge technologies. The manufacturing complex, inaugurated in 2017, spans 125,000 square meters and being one of the largest pharmaceutical facilities in the Middle East and Africa.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, highlighted the importance of the tour, including visits to other prominent national and private pharmaceutical companies. "These facilities are instrumental in advancing Egypt's pharmaceutical production capabilities, localizing high-quality medical treatments, and expanding export opportunities," said Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar.
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), emphasized EVA Pharma’s key role in realizing Egypt's vision for localizing advanced medical treatments and vaccines, aligning with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to deepen local manufacturing in strategic sectors.

Dr. Riad Armanious clarified that EVA Pharma’s R&D center, the largest in Egypt, focuses on clinical trials, human genome studies, as well as vaccine development. Lastly, He concluded that locally manufactured insulin is currently a top priority, aiming to local supply and exporting it to more than 60 countries.
