EVA Pharma announced that localizing the production of oncology and hematology treatments in Egypt is no longer merely an industrial direction; rather, it is a fundamental pillar for strengthening pharmaceutical security, ensuring that Egyptian patients have sustainable access to world-class treatment, and reducing dependence on imports.

Dr. Riad Armanious, CEO of EVA Pharma made the remarks during a press conference held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health and Population in the New Administrative Capital, attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, and a number of ministry leaders, as part of ongoing efforts to support the localization of oncology and hematology treatment production in Egypt.

Dr. Riad Armanious said that EVA Pharma’s current progress represents a new step in Egypt’s journey toward localizing advanced treatments in accordance with the highest global quality standards. He emphasized that the objective extends beyond simply introducing new medicines to the market to contributing to the development of an integrated, sustainable healthcare system centered on the needs of Egyptian patients.

He explained that, in less than a year, EVA Pharma has made rapid progress in the oncology and hematology sector. The number of medicines produced by the company has risen from just two at the sector’s launch to nine today, covering six disease areas: liver cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, two types of leukemia, and idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpurea (ITP). He noted that EVA Pharma’s oncology and hematology treatment facility has an annual production capacity of approximately 22 million medicine packs.

He added that these medicines have helped treat approximately 8,500 patients over the past year, underscoring the importance of advancing the concept of pharmaceutical localization beyond local manufacturing toward an integrated model that combines quality, sustainability, and broader patient access to modern treatments. EVA Pharma’s CEO noted that the company continues to invest in strengthening manufacturing quality. He highlighted the renewal of the oncology medicines manufacturing facility’s EU-GMP certification for another three years, from 2026 to 2029, reflecting the company’s continued commitment to applying global standards in the production of specialized medicines.

Dr. Riad Armanious stressed that expanding local manufacturing capacity for oncology treatments directly enhances the healthcare system’s ability to supply medicines more efficiently and sustainably. It also reduces dependence on imports and eases pressure on foreign currency, enabling more resources to be redirected toward broadening patient access to advanced treatments.

EVA Pharma’s expansion plans are supported by a manufacturing infrastructure comprising four production sites with a combined capacity of up to one million medicine packs per day. The company’s products reach more than 40 countries worldwide, alongside the implementation of internationally recognized quality standards and the attainment of global regulatory accreditations.

As part of its future plans, EVA Pharma aims to add 12 new active pharmaceutical ingredients by 2029, bringing the total to 21 oncology and hematology medicines, according to Dr. Riad Armanious. He explained that this expansion will cover 11 disease areas within oncology and hematology, with the goal of cumulatively reaching approximately 50,000 patients by 2029.

Dr. Riad Armanious affirmed that the next phase will see continued efforts to introduce more innovative oncology and hematology treatments and expand patient access to them across Egypt through ongoing investment in local manufacturing, scientific research, partnership-building, and the transfer of knowledge and expertise. In closing, he emphasized that the ultimate goal of these efforts is to enable Egyptian patients to receive world-class, locally manufactured treatment that is available on a sustainable basis.
