EVA Pharma and EMASO will launch “My Journey Beyond Weight” Campaign to raise awareness and empower a deeper understanding of obesity
Cairo, Egypt – November 18, 2025 - EVA Pharma and the Egyptian Medical Association for the Study of Obesity (EMASO) today signed a strategic memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the fields of awareness, training, and medical care, within the framework of the "My Journey Beyond Weight" campaign.
This cooperation aligns with Egypt's 2030 vision for sustainable development in the health pillar and responds to the notable rise in obesity rates and accompanying non-communicable diseases (NCDs). This collaboration aims not only to raise awareness about weight loss but to bring about a radical transformation in individuals' lifestyles, considering obesity a chronic and progressive disease requiring radical treatment, not merely a transient cosmetic issue.
Through this collaboration, the two parties will work together to develop digital awareness programs and joint scientific content, organize specialized training programs for medical staff, launch field campaigns for awareness and consultations, in addition to holding specialized scientific conferences and seminars, and exchanging expertise and knowledge in the latest obesity treatment methods, all within a framework of joint efforts to confront the challenge of obesity in Egypt.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abou El-Gheit, General Secretary of the Egyptian Medical Association for the Study of Obesity (EMASO), said: "This cooperation with EVA Pharma comes as a continuation of the Association's efforts to combat obesity from a scientific and societal perspective. We will work together to develop specialized training programs for doctors and pharmacists and raise community awareness about the risks of obesity and methods of prevention and treatment."
Dr. Mohamed Abou El-Gheit added, "The cooperation will include organizing scientific conferences and field awareness campaigns and producing accurate scientific content that contributes to changing misconceptions about this disease. We are confident that this cooperation will effectively contribute to improving the lives of obesity patients."
Dr. Maysaa Shawki, Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine at Cairo University and former Deputy Minister of Health and Population, warned of the continuous increase in obesity rates in Egypt, adding that obesity is a disease not limited only to adults but also notably includes children, which necessitates urgent intervention to improve lifestyle patterns in society.
Dr. Mona Hegazy, Professor of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Hepatology at Cairo University's Faculty of Medicine, and Head of the Scientific Council of the Egyptian Board of Therapeutic Nutrition, warned that obesity is now directly affecting the quality of life, noting that a balanced diet and regular physical activity are among the most important means of preventing obesity. She pointed out the importance of consulting a specialist doctor to receive appropriate treatment.
Dr. Abram Wagih, Egypt Cluster Head at EVA Pharma, stated: “At EVA Pharma, we are pleased with this strategic cooperation with the EMASO, which comes within the framework of our commitment to supporting public health in Egypt”
We empower the fight for health and well being as a human right.
